Design of a future MR in-car-gaming concept based on AI-generated content

Research and design of a new in-car-gaming concept based on mixed reality, for a new user experience in autonomous driving.

My Role: Lead UX Designer

This was a 5-day personal project where I was fully responsible for various aspects, including research, concept design, user experience design, interaction design, and 3D modeling. I began by conducting in-depth user research to identify project needs, followed by conceptual design, exploring innovative solutions. In the final stage, I applied 3D modeling techniques to visualize the design concept, bringing it to life as a tangible product model, completing the process from ideation to realization.

Inspiration and Bodystorming

In the opening of my concept video, I recount a moment of inspiration that struck me while seated in my car. As the sun blazed brilliantly outside, I instinctively raised my hand to shield my eyes from its glare. It was then a curious thought occurred to me: if the sun is merely a celestial orb, why can't I metaphorically pluck it from the sky and treasure it? This idea stirred within me memories of Christmas, reminiscent of the daily ritual of retrieving a piece of chocolate from the advent calendar. This act of tender care, this sense of ritual, imbued in me a desire to cherish the sun of each day as a precious, fleeting gift.

Research

To realize this idea, I looked for AI technology and mixed reality. The camera will scan the environment while driving. And artificial intelligence will take individual project then think and cadulate. Individual objects are manipulated by the AI and changed in their appearance. This new scene is displayed on the windshield using a combination of AR and VR technology. This creates a completely new 360° all-round experience while driving. The MR technology is a powerful technology for immersive, future-oriented experiences.

The camera scans the flower while driving. Through Al art generator filter artificial intelligence will enlarge small flower then show on the windshield. Here you can see an animation.

Immersive
Experience

Here are user perspectives. This is the self-driving car f05 from Mercedes-Benz. Because of driving, not only drivers but also passengers can experience this in-car game wholeheartedly. The driver is no longer distracted by a bicycle or a pedestrian because they don't have to drive.The user is immersed in a new world. In these mobile reality-based games, even a family can play together.
For children and parents, they can also enjoy the VR game when automatic driving.

Capturing the Sun:
Innovative Interaction Meets Daily Wonder

Revisiting the core idea of my concept video, my focus is to take our subconscious actions of blocking out the sun and taking it off and form a novel interactive gesture through AI technology. This concept draws inspiration from the subtle, daily transformations of the sun, often unnoticed by the naked eye. Whether it's the midday brilliance or the subdued hues behind clouds, each day the sun presents a unique face. Leveraging AI, we aspire to transform the sun into a daily jewel, a symbol we gather and cherish as each new day unfolds. While getting the unique daily jewel, we also decrease the brightness of the cockpit through gesture interaction.
We can collect sun jewels every day just as we are collecting our daily. Forrest Gump said that life is like chocolate, you never know what the next piece of chocolate will taste like. And now technology has given us this surprise. It's like when we open a new piece of chocolate at Christmas.
