Mimi Box

Mimi Box is a musical memory game for children. Listen to a sound, find out what atomic sounds it is made up of, pick out the basic sounds and tones you hear and combine them to make up a live arrangement.

My Role:
UX designer

During this three-week project, I served as the UX designer for the team, where my primary responsibilities included leading the UX concept design, tablet interface design, interaction design, digital prototyping, and brand development for the Mimi Box product. I worked closely with product designers and fellow UX designers to ensure seamless collaboration throughout the research, design, and development phases. My role involved conducting user research to inform design decisions, creating wireframes and prototypes, and refining interactions to enhance user experiences.

Create your own Mimi Box!

The project aimed to spark children's imagination using sounds. Children could choose their favorite sounds, visualize them, and express these ideas through drawings, creating their own personalized Mimi Box. This interactive experience encouraged creativity and connected sound with visual expression, making for an engaging and imaginative activity.

In order to stimulate the children’s imagination of sound, their senses are brought to engage through hearing, seeing, and touching so that they can touch the pattern, shake the Mimi Box, combine sounds and pitches and complete the music puzzle.

How does the memory game work?

First, the child learns about basic sounds by shaking the blocks and about the geometric shapes on the Mimi Box. Then they hear a sound, they need to listen and analyze which pitches and basic sounds is the sound made up of. From there, they select the right sounds to combine and finally reach a decryption.
